Which texts you get
- Barb Outdoors' number answers when you text it, and sends updates about your requests (between 8 AM and 9 PM your time, at most four a day). Its first text says it's an automated assistant and how to stop.
- A guide's Barb texts or emails you about a trip once you've said yes to sending them your request (once, then nothing until you reply, and never between 9 PM and 8 AM your time), or booked with them.
- Book now on a guide's page has its own box for texts about your booking. It's off until you tick it, and never needed to book: leave it off and your updates go to your email. Numbers outside the US and Canada always get them by email.
- Texts about a guide's future trips have a second, separate box. Ticking it only asks: Barb texts you what they'd be, and you agree by replying TRIPS. Up to four a month.
- Group chats text you only after you join one by texting its line yourself.
- Sign-in codes come only when you ask for one.
- People you add to your trip are never texted by Barb. Those with an email get the trip's details by email.
Stopping texts
- STOP to Barb Outdoors' number stops its texts and calls off your open requests. START turns them back on.
- STOP to a guide's Barb stops only that guide's texts, including their texts about future trips. Updates you still need, like word that unpaid seats were released, may then go to your email.
- LEAVE leaves a trip group chat. STOP to a group's number blocks that number until you text START to it.
- STOP to the number your sign-in codes come from stops codes by text. Sign in with your email instead, or text START to that number.
- HELP to any of them gets who's texting you and how to reach us.

Emails
Reply "stop" to an email from Barb Outdoors and it won't email you again (your requests are called off). If someone added you to their trip, each email about it has a link to stop them: press Stop these emails, and no more come about any trip you're added to.
