Terms of use
Last updated October 2026
These terms cover your use of Barb Outdoors (barboutdoors.com, our concierge you text or email, and the emails we send), run by Barbed.ai LLC. By using it, you agree to them.
1. What Barb Outdoors is
Barb Outdoors is a directory of outdoor guides and a concierge that helps you find one and send them your request. Some guides on Barb also take bookings online, right on their page here (Book now): that booking is made with Barb, the guide's booking assistant, on Barb's terms (barbed.ai/terms), and you pay at Barb's secure checkout. We aren't a guide, outfitter, or travel agent, and we don't run trips. Guides are independent businesses. When you book a trip, your agreement is with the guide, on their terms; booking through Barb, our booking assistant, is also subject to Barb's terms (barbed.ai/terms). You must be 18 or older to use Barb Outdoors.
2. Listings
Many listings are built from public information and may be out of date or wrong: prices, seasons, licenses, and what a guide offers can change. Check with the guide before you book. A listing, a rating, or a place in "Recommended" isn't an endorsement. Barbed.ai LLC makes Barb and earns a fee from the guide when you book through it. Guides on Barb come first under "Recommended", and our concierge suggests them first.
3. Our concierge
Our concierge is an automated assistant. It suggests guides from our listings, and for a guide on Barb it can check their open times. It can't hold or book a time, or promise a time, a price, or that a guide will answer. It sends your request to a guide only after you say yes to its question. For a guide on Barb, the guide's Barb then texts or emails you to book. See the SMS terms and the privacy policy.
4. Outdoor trips carry risk
Guided outdoor activities can be dangerous. The guide you book is responsible for the trip, and may ask you to sign their waiver. Choose a guide and a trip that fit your experience and health. You take part at your own risk, and we aren't responsible for injury, loss, or damage on a trip. We don't check guides' licenses, permits, insurance, or safety records unless a listing says so.
5. Reviews and what you send us
A review you agree to publish must be your own honest account of a trip you took. You keep it as yours and give us a free, worldwide license to show it on Barb Outdoors with the name you chose, until you take it back. Reviews are their writers' views, not ours, and a guide's reply is the guide's. We don't edit reviews. We show, hold, and take them down as the review policy says.
6. Copyright
If you think something on Barb Outdoors infringes your copyright, send our copyright agent: your signature, the work, where it is on our site (the link), your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you're the owner or authorized to act for them. Copyright Agent, Barbed.ai LLC, 2442 NW Market St, Seattle, WA 98107, [email protected] (U.S. Copyright Office designation DMCA-1084284). We take down material in response to valid notices.
7. The rules
- Don't send requests, reviews, or reports that are fake, or on someone else's behalf without their OK.
- Don't use Barb Outdoors to harass a guide or anyone else.
- Don't copy listings in bulk, scrape the site, or get around its limits.
- Don't try to break, overload, or get into anything you shouldn't.
We may stop answering or block anyone who breaks these rules.
8. For businesses
See For businesses we list for how listings, claims, removal, and our emails work.
9. No warranty, and limits on our liability
Barb Outdoors is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for a guide's trip, for anything a guide does or doesn't do, for information in listings, or for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for anything to do with Barb Outdoors is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. If someone else makes a claim
You'll cover Barbed.ai LLC's losses and reasonable legal costs from a claim by someone else that arises from a review or request you send, or from your breaking these terms.
11. Changes
We may change these terms and will post changes here with a new date.
12. The law and where disputes go
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Except for disputes that go to arbitration below and small-claims cases, any lawsuit about these terms or Barb Outdoors must be brought in the state or federal courts in King County, Washington, and you and Barbed.ai LLC agree to those courts' jurisdiction.
13. Arbitration and no class actions
Please read this. It affects how disputes are resolved and limits your rights.
- Talk to us first. Before starting arbitration or a lawsuit, email [email protected] describing the dispute, and give us at least 30 days to resolve it.
- Binding arbitration. If we can't resolve it that way, you and Barbed.ai LLC agree that any dispute about these terms or Barb Outdoors will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, not in court, except as stated below. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. Arbitration takes place in King County, Washington, or, if you choose, by phone, video, or written submissions.
- No class actions. Claims may be brought only individually, not as a plaintiff or member of any class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not combine claims.
- Mass filings. If 25 or more similar arbitration demands are filed by or with coordinated counsel, they're handled under the AAA's Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules, in batches of up to 50 with one arbitrator per batch, and the time limit for filing is paused for demands waiting their turn. If this paragraph is unenforceable, it's dropped and the rest of this section still applies.
- No jury. You and Barbed.ai LLC waive any right to a jury trial.
- Exceptions. Either side may still bring an individual claim in small-claims court, or ask a court to stop misuse of Barb Outdoors or protect intellectual property.
- Fees. The AAA's rules decide who pays arbitration fees. Where they require it, Barbed.ai LLC pays or advances the filing and arbitrator fees for a consumer's claim.
- Opting out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of first using Barb Outdoors. The rest of these terms still apply.
- If part of this fails. If the no-class-action rule is unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to the courts in section 12, and the rest of this section still applies. If this whole section is unenforceable, disputes go to those courts.
