Barb Outdoors

For businesses we list

Last updated October 2026

Barb Outdoors is a directory of outdoor guides, run by Barbed.ai LLC. Here's how a business ends up on it, how to claim or remove a listing, and when we email you.

How listings are made

We list guide businesses from public information: their own websites, public directories and maps listings, and public reviews. A listing shows what a client needs to choose a guide: the business's name, area, activities, a short description (usually our own summary of public information, for a business that hasn't claimed its listing), prices where published, ratings, and photos we have the right to show. We keep a business's phone number, email address, website, and street address off its page until it claims its listing and chooses to show them. Being listed is free. A listing that hasn't been claimed says "Not on Barb yet", and offers to pass on a client's request only when we can reach the business.

Claiming your listing

Find your listing and choose "Claim". We send a code to the business email or call the business phone we have for it; enter the code and the listing is yours to manage, free. If no code can reach you, ask us to check by hand: we answer within 5 business days. Clients can then send you requests through Barb, the booking assistant we make. Barb is optional; it takes 5% of the payments it collects for your bookings, with no monthly fee.

Removing your listing

Find your listing and choose "Remove". With a code sent to the business's email or phone, it comes down at once. Without one, ask us to check by hand, and we answer within 5 business days. A guide who claimed a listing can always ask us to take it down. To make sure it isn't added back from the same details, we keep a scrambled code of its phone and email, and its website address and source references.

To correct something on a listing you haven't claimed, claim it, or email [email protected].

Emails we send you

Apart from a code someone asks for on the claim or remove page (by email, or an automated call to the business phone) and our answers to requests you send us, we email a business only when a real client on Barb Outdoors asks to book it and it hasn't claimed its listing yet. That email is a business invitation: it says what the client asked for (the activity, group size, and dates), never their name or contact, and invites you to claim your listing. We never text a business that hasn't claimed its listing.
