Booking
Book now is on the pages of guides on Barb who take bookings online. The page says Book online with Barb.
- Step 1: Tap Book now and choose a trip (with only one, it opens straight to its times).
- Step 2: Choose a date and time. Times are the trip's local time, with yours beside them when it's different.
- Step 3: Choose how many guests. The total and the deposit due now show as you change it.
- Step 4: Add your name, email, and mobile number, and a note for your guide if you like.
- Step 5: Tick the boxes you want (below), agree to the guide's cancellation policy and the booking terms, and press Continue to payment.
- Step 6: Choose to pay the deposit or the whole trip (just the whole trip when there's no separate deposit). Checkout opens, and you pay by card.
Your spot is booked when you press Continue to payment. The next screen says until when your seats are held while the deposit is unpaid. For a free trip the button says Book now, and that's all.
The boxes
- Texts about your booking: confirmations, reminders, payment, and follow-ups from your guide's Barb, by text. Off until you tick it, and never needed to book: leave it off and your updates go to your email. For a number outside the US and Canada, updates always go by email.
- Texts about future trips and openings, if the guide offers them: a separate box, never needed to book. Barb texts you what they'd be, and you agree only by replying TRIPS.
- The booking terms: the guide's cancellation policy (shown above the box, from when you book) and the site's terms. If you cancel, your refund follows that policy, with no fees taken out.
Paying
Your choice opens Stripe's secure checkout. Neither Barb nor your guide sees your card number. Once you've paid, you're back on the trip's page in Your trips, which says Payment received. Thank you. It can take a minute to show here. (In a browser where you aren't signed in, it asks you to sign in to see the trip.)
Unpaid seats are held for up to 48 hours (or until 12 hours before the trip, if that's sooner), then released, and nothing is charged. Pay the deposit now and the rest later, or all of it now.
Closed the page before paying? Your trips has Pay now, and your confirmation, by text or email, has a pay link. That link opens on barbed.ai, the booking service your guide uses, and goes on to the same Stripe checkout.
Barb: You're booked! Your Half Day Float with Madison Drift is set for Jun 14 at 7:00 AM, 2 guests. Madison Drift will be in touch. Reply here with any questions. Once you've paid, I can start a group text for your party. To cancel, reply "cancel my trip". Your seats are held until Jun 3 at 7:00 PM MDT while the $100.00 deposit is unpaid, then released. Pay here: barbed.ai/pay/... Reply STOP to opt out.
Paid before it goes out? It says so instead of the hold and the link. Either way, it comes from your guide's own Barb number (or by email), and you can reply to it with questions.
After you book
Your guide's Barb handles the rest by text or email: the waiver if your guide uses one, reminders, and changes. Your trip is also on Your trips: sign in with the mobile number or email you booked with.
Questions
Can I pay the rest later?
What if the time I picked is gone?
Do I need an account?
